Everyone has a story...

Hello beautiful peeps, so happy to be back to share my latest project. After a much needed break, if feels great to be creating again. Art is a great way to express ourselves, even if it's in the simplest of ways. Life isn't always as it seems and we all have our reasons for doing what we do. It's important to remind ourselves that everyone has their own story to tell...hence the inspiration behind this piece.

We may not always understand or agree with why certain things happen the way they do, but for me it's always important to try and read between the lines. Now, it doesn't mean I will always get it right, but regardless, it usually helps me put things into perspective, as I too have my own story to tell.

In time, I have accumulated many, many things that have yet to be put to use, including much of Tim Holtz's product line...some old, some new and some on the way...YIKES!!! In creating this project, that became my main focus, so I used the TH Etcetera thickboard, some background stamps, metal embellishments and distress inks and oxides, along with many other elements as well. All and all, happy with how it turned out!!!

Enjoy...

Have a wonderful day!!!

Vintage Art Journal Page...Limited Edition

Hello there, so happy to be posting my first Art Anthology DT project. I so enjoyed playing with all of the different sprays and paints, especially with some of the paints being somewhat translucent. With so many colors and textures to play with, including stencils, I'm so looking forward to creating more projects.

With that, as many of you know, I've done some art journaling in an old library book for practice, but I finally found the courage to create in my Mixed Media Art Journal by Finnabair.  I took a page out by removing the wire rings from the Journal, I did this to create at liberty without making a mess onto the other pages. Keep in mind that I do have the Cinch tool that can easily reattach the rings...although I will not be reattaching it until I complete the entire journal. I have decided to designate this journal to my love of vintage and vintage shabby chic.

Please stop by the Art Anthology shop for more details on the products and the Art Anthology blog for more inspiration from the design team. Below you will find a step by step tutorial.

Enjoy...

"Shine" Art Journal Page

Hi everyone, today I would love to share with you my first Art Journal page. This has been something that I tend to struggle with, so I never even attempted it until now. My biggest issue is getting started, focusing on an idea and finding ways to implement it, not to mention my fear of ruining pages of my mixed media art journals, as these books can be quite costly. Stopping by my local library, I found a section of old books that were selling for a dollar, so I bought several and decided to use one of the books for my practice journal.

I started off by covering several pages with gesso and went from there. I'm still trying to figure out what works best together, between watercolor, inks, sprays, paints an so on. Below I used a bit of everything, soon realizing using the Neocolor water soluble crayon for the hair was not my best idea, but it is what it is...practice, practice and more practice!!! :)

Enjoy...

I covered the pages with a light layer of gesso, some stamping and Art Anthology sprays.

I used Steampendous face stamp "The Look", some stencils and  Dylusions paint.

For shading and highlights, I used various Prima chalk inks and Neocolor crayons.

For definition a Sharpie thin black marker.

Quote... Impression Obsession stamp (E17095) - Shine the unique light that is only yours to shine.

Beauty of a White Heart

Hi everyone, in lieu of Valentine's Day, I decided to share a meaningful piece of Art, it is in remembrance of my beautiful mom. Although she passed away many years ago, there are many days I feel as if it were yesterday. She was an amazing woman who had such a pure heart...the Beauty of a White Heart! She was honest, kind and good natured, such a gentle soul to be around, who always tried to see the good in people. She inspired me in many ways and continues to inspire me to be the best person I can be. Life is not perfect, all we can do is try our best to be kind and respectful of those around us.

Every time I look at this piece, I get a warm feeling inside that makes me smile. I feel blessed to have had this woman in my life. She will forever be missed!

Enjoy...

Whenever possible, remember to...

"Be Silly. Be Honest. Be Kind."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

I use my phone to record my videos, I was zoomed in and somewhat off camera, I didn't notice until I was finished.
I uploaded it anyway in hopes you will get the gist of it!
If not, sorry! :(

Have a fun and creative day!!!

Life is a gift...Celebrate

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a great start of the new year. It's been many years since I've created a layout, so what better way to start off my year than to create a "mixed media" layout. I love to follow many challenge blogs, as they can give so much inspiration and many creative ideas on what one can do to start off the next project. I have always worked best when challenged, be it home life, work life or just creating in general, for me challenges are a great way to expand my creativity in many diverse ways.

I absolutely love the freshness of a new snowfall, the scenery is always so beautiful. While going for a nice walk around the neighborhood, I couldn't help but stop to take this lovely photo of my husband and our most adorable pup "Dallas". What better way to celebrate...than to celebrate life with those we love and the wondrous beauty of Mother Nature.

Enjoy...

"Journey" Canvas and Mixed Media Giveaway

Hi everyone, happy to be back with another project and some great news. It's time for a giveaway and let me tell this is an awesome giveaway...I'm calling it a "Mixed Media start up kit". The reasoning behind it was to put almost everything and anything you would need for a mixed media project. I have a video posted below and you will see enough goodies to make all kinds of projects. For your chance to win, visit my YouTube channel... you must subscribe, like and comment on the video posted below...good luck!!!

If you missed out or didn't win the giveaway, don't fret as I plan on doing a couple more giveaways before the year is up.

Also today I have a project that I call "Journey" by the sea. I made this for this weeks Frilly and Funkie challenge...BY THE SEA and Deco Arts challenge...Under The Sea. For this project I used all kinds of fun embellishments, stencils, Prima and Petaloo flowers and a cute little resin seahorse by Prima, I painted it using some Deco Art paints in blues, greys, browns and white, super adorable. I also used Finnabair's rusting pastes for the corner pieces and Milange art pebbles for the water drops. All and all a ton of fun to make.

Enjoy...

Hard to see on the project,
but there's a Prima resin frame
under the seahorse.

Have a great day!!!

Mixed Media Art Prompt Box 2

Hi everyone, in a previous post I shared with you my first Art Prompt Box. Well today I want to share with you my 2nd Art Prompt Box. This box is quite different from the first one, which is what I wanted. I was in the mood for something that was airy and light with a touch of vintage shabby chic.

I had lots of fun creating this and now I'm ready to start challenging myself to create some projects  using the prompts. As I get new products, I need to remember to add them to my list. Hope you've been inspired and are having fun creating your own prompt boxes... supplies listed below! :)

Enjoy...

Supplies used...
Wooden box and misc. metals, chipboard and old paintbrushes etc.
Gesso, Modeling paste for stencils and Crackle paste for the drawer.
Prima Shabby Chic door locks.
Tim Holtz Alpha Parts, Ornate plates and Black Soot Ink.
Crafter's workshop stencils: "Mini Moving Vines" and "Mini art Is".
Prima and Petaloo Flowers.
Heartfelt Creations "Everyday Heroes" paper collection for box sides and drawer.
Sprays: Glimmer Mist "Patina and Dylusions "Calypso Teal" watered down.

I added several layers between gesso and sprays, lastly using a round, but flat bottom sponge brush with gesso for some texture. To finish, I used the black soot ink  for shadowing.

Have fun... be creative!!!

Mixed Media Art Prompt Box

Hi everyone, so happy to be back after a well needed break, I'm totally rested and so ready to get back to creating! For my first project of the year, I decided to start off with an Art Prompt Box. I found this idea on YouTube from Rach0113, click here for her video.

This is the first of 2 boxes. I'm making a list of ALL of my supplies/tools/styles/etc. that are in my studio, I will then print and cut them out. I will add all of my supplies etc. to the first box, when I'm ready to create, I will pull out 3 and create a project. When I'm done I will put it into the 2nd box, the idea is to go through your 1st box. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say there are many things that were bought throughout time that haven't been opened.

I plan to do another video, once my 2nd box is complete. I will then show you the process and start by pulling out 3 things that I will have to use to create. There's not limit on what you use, but you must use those 3. Other than my DT posts for Cardz TV, all of my other projects will be based from the prompt box.

I love this idea and I hope you all get inspired to Create Amazing Art!!!

Enjoy...

I did make a video showing the process, unfortunately it cut out before I could finish...I'm hoping you will get the idea.

 Have a great day!!!
